Day 3: Psalm 9:1-10

I will praise you, O LORD, with all my heart. I will tell of all your wonderful deeds. I will be glad and rejoice in you; I will sing praise to your name, O Most High. When my enemies turned back, they stumbled and perished before you. For you have upheld my right and my cause; you have sat on your throne, judging righteously. You have rebuked the nations and destroyed the wicked; you have blotted out their name forever and ever. Endless ruin has overtaken the enemy, you have uprooted their cities; even the memory of them has perished. The LORD reigns forever; he has established his throne for judgement. He will judge the world in righteousness; he will govern the peoples with justice. The LORD is a refuge for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble. Those who know your name will trust in you, for you, LORD, have never forsaken those who seek you. (Psalm 9:1-10)

Whether I see it - or even believe it at times - the Lord fights for me. As I wake up, get in the shower, eat my morning breakfast, feel the stress of the day, fear that I won't have enough time, get bombarded with emails and tasks, and finally end it all with plopping on the couch and feeling exhausted. All day, He fights for me, calling for me to see Him, recognize Him, and join Him.

And I believe fully that He fights for all of us.

Every day, we are faced with our enemy. Satan loves to pick at us, drain our sense of value, and trick us with selfish desires. But the LORD - our God - upholds our cause. The Spirit of God constantly calls out who we really are; for He believes in us. And He stands in the way for us, rebuking our enemy and his lies. On His throne, God reigns forever.

Having this in mind, King David, with excitement, passion, and energy, exclaims: "I will praise you, O LORD, with all my heart! I will tell of all your wonderful deeds! I will be glad and rejoice in you! I will sing praise to your name!"

I do not know what the first half of your week has brought you, but please know that the Lord is present, sitting on His throne, and reigning forever. He is here now to provide for the oppressed, to bless the righteous, and to aid those who are in times of trouble. All He asks is for us to seek Him; to trust Him; to speak of Him.

In verse 10, David writes: "Those who know your name will trust in you, for you, LORD, have never forsaken those who seek you."

Wherever you find yourself at today, ask God to remind you of His work in you; to restore to you David's level of excitement, passion, and energy. For God will never forsake and never abandon those who seek Him.

I do not know about you, but today, I want to experience the LORD's reign in my life; to notice Him upholding my cause. My prayer, then, is that my day - that your day - will be defined by seeking Him and "telling of His wonderful deeds."

Have a blessed day. Feel free to share this and join in tomorrow!
